April 29, 2008 - Wise Approved as Mediator by U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh Roger L. Wise has been approved as a neutral in the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) program of the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. In this role, he will provide mediation, early neutral evaluation and arbitration services in pending civil cases through the court’s mandatory alternative dispute resolution initiative to settle cases before lengthy and costly discovery and trial. The ADR program is designed to provide quicker, less expensive alternatives to full, formal litigation without impairing the quality of justice or the right to trial. To be approved, Mr. Wise completed 40 hours of mediation training sponsored by the Federal Bar Association. In his practice, Mr. Wise provides ADR services (mediation, arbitration and early neutral evaluation) in civil cases, including vehicular accident, product liability, nursing home, construction and commercial cases. He serves as an arbitrator in underinsured motorists (UIM) and uninsured motorists (UM) litigation. Mr. Wise also provides mediation services in probate, estate and orphans’ court litigation, including will contests, claims of undue influence or lack of testamentary capacity, claims of abuse of powers of attorney and alleged breaches of duties by trustees and executors. He has litigated a wide variety of civil cases involving personal injury, wrongful death and financial injury.
